Family to have Smith's brain checked for CTE

Former NFL defensive lineman Aldon Smith has passed away. His family is sending his brain to Boston medical experts for examination, according to ESPN News, to determine whether CTE—chronic traumatic encephalopathy—played a role in his death. CTE is a degenerative brain condition associated with repeated head trauma in contact sports.
