Google Chrome update will close the door on ad blockers

tech

According to 9to5Google, Google Chrome's upcoming update will effectively disable most popular ad-blocking extensions through a transition to a new system called Manifest V3. Google frames the change as a security and performance improvement, but critics argue it removes users' primary tool for controlling ads and tracking. For the roughly 60% of Chrome users who run ad-blocking software, this represents a significant loss of browsing autonomy.
