Gujarat: Three Hindutva group members held for attacking book reading session participants in park

Three men linked to Hindutva groups were arrested Friday after allegedly attacking participants at a public book-reading event in an Ahmedabad park, Scroll.in reports. Organizers said the session was open to any book of a reader's choice, but a group of eighteen to twenty men carrying hockey sticks and saffron flags arrived shouting slogans and abusing attendees, injuring two people. Police said the group objected to the inclusion of Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai's memoir among the books on offer. A first information report has been filed, and six additional individuals have been identified as police continue the investigation.
