APOD: 2026 August 29 – Eclipse Pair

NASA Science is featuring a striking pair of eclipse images from the last eclipse season of twenty twenty-six. A total solar eclipse on August twelfth, captured in Spain, and an almost total lunar eclipse on the night of August twenty-seventh and twenty-eighth, recorded from France. The lunar eclipse reached about ninety-three percent maximum phase, leaving a reddened sliver of the Moon in Earth's shadow. The next eclipse season will pair an annular solar eclipse on February sixth, twenty twenty-seven, with a penumbral lunar eclipse later that month.
