Mount Rush Hour in Houston, Texas
entertainment
According to Atlas Obscura, Houston's Mount Rush Hour features 18-foot-tall busts of U.S. Presidents and Texas pioneers on the smallest park in Harris County—just one-third of an acre. Sculptor David Adickes donated the installation in 2012, capping a decade-long obsession inspired by a road trip past Mount Rushmore. He created over 150 presidential heads in his lifetime, now scattered across Texas galleries, roadside motels in the Dakotas, and even a recycling facility in Virginia. About three million vehicles pass Mount Rush Hour daily between Interstate 45 and the Katy Freeway. Adickes died in 2025 at 98, leaving behind a uniquely Texas legacy: monumental ambition hidden in plain sight.
