Trump says US is taking partial control of Venezuela's vast oil reserves, but offers few details about agreement
politics
President Donald Trump has announced a deal to secure majority American control over more than sixty-five billion barrels of proven oil reserves in Venezuela. As Dawn reports, the administration intends to use private business partnerships to revive the nation's energy industry and lower fuel prices in the United States. While Venezuelan interim leader Delcy Rodriguez says the move will bring two hundred nine billion dollars in tax revenue, some analysts warn that the deal's legal basis is unclear and infrastructure repairs could take years. The agreement comes as Washington seeks to stabilize crude supplies for American refineries ahead of the November midterm elections.
