Ted Fried’s MicroCore Labs projects
tech
Ted Fried's MicroCore Labs has developed a collection of emulation boards that replace classic microprocessor chips with modern equivalents. According to Adafruit, these projects include the MCL6809—a Motorola 6809E emulator running on a Teensy 4.1—and the MCLZ8, a Zilog Z80 emulator. Designed as drop-in replacements, these boards let vintage computer systems run without hunting down increasingly rare original chips, effectively preserving obsolete hardware through modern software emulation.
