Rahul Gandhi demands FIR under SC/ST Act over ‘purification’ after Mallikarjun Kharge rally

Scroll.in reports that opposition leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday called for a first information report to be filed under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Prevention of Atrocities Act after a "purification" ritual was performed at the Ramlila Ground in Haldwani, Uttarakhand, where Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge had held a rally earlier this month. Gandhi said two weeks had passed without any police action and described the incident as an act of untouchability aimed at the senior leader. Union minister JP Nadda told reporters the BJP does not endorse such activities and will investigate the matter. Gandhi reiterated his demand that the FIR be registered, urging authorities to act.
