According to ScienceDaily, researchers may have discovered that mammals aren't actually incapable of regrowing complex body parts—we may just have the mechanism turned off. Using a two-stage treatment, scientists successfully redirected the body's natural healing response away from scar tissue formation and toward actual regrowth, restoring bone, joints, ligaments, and tendons in animal studies following amputation.
