Starmer on the line as UK holds "most important local election in decades"

politics

According to France 24, British voters in Makerfield, northwest England, are casting ballots in what's being called one of the most important local elections in decades. While Prime Minister Keir Starmer isn't on the ballot, his political future is effectively at stake. Andy Burnham, the Labour mayor of Greater Manchester, is the leading candidate and is widely seen as a potential successor to Starmer. The election has become a de facto referendum on Starmer's leadership.
