According to France 24, Egypt is grappling with a significant video game addiction problem. Gaming cafés have proliferated across Cairo, especially in poorer neighborhoods. Egyptians average one hour and 43 minutes of daily gaming—the highest rate in the world. Some 43 and a half percent of young gamers show signs of addiction. The government launched a public awareness campaign in February to address the issue.
