Understanding ChatGPT Work

OpenAI is iterating on a powerful but complex new offering called ChatGPT Work, which is currently available to paid subscribers paying twenty dollars a month or more. As Simon Willison's Weblog explains, the product exists in two forms: a cloud version and a local version that can run programs directly on a user's computer. The cloud version introduces several high-end capabilities, including a persistent filesystem shared across sessions, the ability to deploy websites via Cloudflare Workers, and a headless Chrome browser for interacting with the web. Most notably, the tool features a code execution environment with broad internet access, allowing it to clone repositories and install dependencies to perform complex tasks.
