Raising the Altalena: Netanyahu digs up sunken 1948 arms ship in ‘pre-election stunt’

The wreckage of the Altalena, an arms ship sunk seventy-eight years ago off the coast of Tel Aviv, was discovered last week. France 24 reports that the vessel was originally sunk by order of Israel's founders while carrying weapons for a right-wing militia. The country's right-wing government is now using the discovery to target political opponents ahead of legislative elections in October.
