Estrogen levels in both the male and female brain may shape memory's resilience in face of stress
health
According to new research from Live Science, estrogen may be a key factor in how the brain's memory holds up against traumatic stress. A mouse study found that the hormone shapes the brain's overall resilience when facing extreme stressors. Though the research is still in animal models, it points to a biological mechanism that could help explain why some people are more resilient to trauma than others, and might eventually lead to new treatments for trauma-related memory disorders.
