Geographical centre of Luxembourg in Mersch, Luxembourg

world

According to Atlas Obscura, Luxembourg's geographical center sits in the Pëttenerbësch forest, half an hour north of the capital. In two thousand nine, the government calculated the exact location by accounting for historical border treaties and land swaps spanning from sixteen fifty-nine to eighteen thirty-nine. A steel monument shaped like a compass rose was unveiled there in twenty eleven. Over a decade later, the site remains barely known and poorly signposted.
