The U.S. government says ASML, the Dutch semiconductor equipment maker, may have allowed its cutting-edge chip-making tools to reach China despite export restrictions. ASML denies it. TechCrunch reports there's a compelling commercial argument in ASML's favor: its export license is worth billions, making it unlikely the company would jeopardize it by breaking U.S. controls.
