The ability to regrow body parts is dormant in mammals, not lost

science

According to ScienceDaily, scientists have discovered that mammals don't actually lack the ability to regenerate body parts—they have it, but it's dormant. While animals like salamanders can regrow entire limbs throughout their lives, mammals appear to have evolved this capability into an inactive state. Understanding how to reactivate these latent regenerative mechanisms could eventually lead to new treatments for injuries and disease. It suggests our biological toolkit is still intact; we've simply switched it off.
