Côte d’Ivoire floods kill 59 as west Africa endures torrential rains

West Africa is reeling from devastating floods during this year's rainy season. According to the Ivorian communication minister, Côte d'Ivoire has seen fifty-nine deaths from floods since May, with fears the toll could climb higher as rescue teams continue searching for victims through July. Ghana has reported thirteen dead, and floods have also devastated Benin, Togo, and Nigeria. The regional rainy season runs through the end of this month.
