Danish Refugee Council on importance of coordinated response to Ebola, wider humanitarian crisis

The Danish Refugee Council is warning that the response to this health emergency could divert critical resources from other aid programs. According to the organization's recent report, existing aid initiatives that hold communities together are at risk of being 'hollowed out.' Secretary-General Charlotte Slente told France 24 that a funding crisis existed even before the outbreak arrived—and now, with the virus spreading, those resources may be redirected solely to Ebola response instead of addressing the wider humanitarian needs.
