According to The Guardian, St. Louis is home to seventy thousand Bosnian immigrants—the largest diaspora community outside Bosnia itself. Most arrived as war refugees during the nineteen nineties. As the World Cup unfolds, community member Mersad Smajic, a restaurant owner, says he's thrilled to see his fellow Bosnians not just surviving, but genuinely thriving in their adopted home. This World Cup season, that pride is being felt across the entire community.
