Melbourne teacher dies after head clash during suburban football game

According to The Guardian World, a suburban Melbourne football community is mourning a player who died after a head injury on the field. Nathan Fitzgerald, a twenty-seven-year-old high school teacher, clashed heads with another player during an Australian rules football game in Lalor, in Melbourne's north, on Saturday. He fell and struck his head on a covered cricket pitch, and was taken to Royal Melbourne Hospital, where he was placed in end-of-life care. His club confirmed his death on Monday night.
