Severe storms across parts of China have killed at least fifteen people, with hundreds more injured and tens of thousands evacuated. According to The Guardian, state media reported the rising toll on Tuesday, as Chinese leader Xi Jinping urged an all-out effort to rescue those affected. Thunderstorms and gale-force winds killed at least eleven people and injured three hundred thirty-one in the central province of Hubei, where forecasters described severe convective weather striking several cities, while tornadoes were reported elsewhere late Monday. In the country's west, sixteen people remain buried following a landslide, and rescue operations are continuing.
