Marine Le Pen ‘wants to talk politics’, but can she drown out the legal noise?

According to The Guardian, Marine Le Pen has launched her campaign for the French presidency in twenty twenty-seven, and she'd very much like to talk about anything but the courtroom. The far-right leader kicked off her run this week with a market walkabout in western France, brushing past protesters who shouted "criminal" at her. The timing was pointed: just a day earlier, an appeal court upheld her conviction for embezzling European parliament funds. Her opponents draw a Trump comparison, betting, as he did, that her voter base simply won't care about the legal cloud overhead. Whether she can drown out that noise is the open question hanging over the race.
