Maddy Cusack did not want Sheffield United to know about talks with club’s former chaplain, inquest told
sports
According to The Guardian, a former Sheffield United club chaplain has told an inquest that the footballer Maddy Cusack repeatedly asked him not to let the club know she was speaking to him. Dr Delroy Hall, who volunteered in the role from 2017 until shortly after Cusack's death, said she came to him several times in August 2023, and on three or four occasions asked, 'Please don't tell anyone I'm talking to you.' Hall told the court he believed players approached him only as a last resort, and that Cusack had been struggling to juggle two jobs. Cusack was found dead at her home in September 2023.
