entertainment

According to The Guardian, actor Louise Lasser has died at the age of eighty-seven, at her home in Manhattan. Lasser became a national star as the pigtailed title character in the nineteen seventies sitcom Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman, a parody of daytime soap operas that followed a suburban Ohio housewife through absurd and often unsettling situations. Though it ran only a year and a half, its five-day-a-week schedule produced more than three hundred episodes across two seasons, landing Lasser on the covers of People and Rolling Stone. She was also known for her early collaborations with Woody Allen, to whom she was married for four years, and for later films including Requiem for a Dream.
