Australia news live: Telstra says Australians can now ‘feel confident’ calling triple zero; Neil the seal ‘returns to the sea’

world

According to The Guardian, telecommunications provider Telstra says Australians can once again feel confident calling triple zero, following outages on Wednesday that disrupted its mobile and internet network. Even so, South Australian police report that a small number of emergency calls are still failing to connect. Separately, the ABC has rejected claims that its journalism contributed to antisemitism or social division, issuing the statement ahead of appearances by senior ABC and SBS executives before a royal commission on antisemitism and social cohesion. And in lighter news, the broadcaster reports that Neil the seal has returned to the sea.
