entertainment

According to The Guardian, Brian Potter, one of the most versatile and successful British songwriters and producers of his generation, has died at the age of eighty-seven. His daughter told Billboard he had been living with Alzheimer's disease in recent years. Born in Essex, Potter teamed with the American songwriter Dennis Lambert to craft a remarkable run of nineteen-seventies hits across pop, soul, soft rock and country. Among the best known: Glen Campbell's Rhinestone Cowboy, a US number one in nineteen seventy-five; It Only Takes a Minute, a disco smash for Tavares that Take That later revived; Player's Baby Come Back, another US number one; and Ain't No Woman (Like the One I've Got) for the Four Tops.
