According to Meduza, Kazakhstan has established fifty-nine police checkpoints at vehicle border crossings to intercept fuel smuggling. With Russia facing fuel shortages, the Kazakh Interior Ministry is now inspecting all cross-border vehicles for auxiliary fuel containers.
