According to Variety, F.W. Murnau's nineteen twenty-seven silent film 'Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans' opened Italy's fortieth Il Cinema Ritrovato Festival with a definitive restoration. Seven thousand spectators gathered at Bologna's Piazza Maggiore to watch the masterpiece, accompanied by a live score performed by the Teatro Comunale di Bologna orchestra. The restoration celebrates one of cinema's most influential early works.
