A's All-Star 1B Kurtz put on IL with thumb sprain

Athletics first baseman Nick Kurtz has been placed on the ten-day injured list with a right thumb sprain, per ESPN SportsCenter. He was scheduled to start at first base for the American League in next week's All-Star Game.
