Coal-Fired Fish and Chip Shop in Upton, England
other
In the tiny village of Upton in Lincolnshire, England, one fish and chips shop keeps a fading tradition alive. According to Atlas Obscura, it's one of only about half a dozen in the country still frying in a coal-fired range—this one dating to nineteen forty-seven. Open just Friday evenings and Saturday lunchtimes, its crowds are so consistent that locals have named the lamp posts along the street as queue markers: fifteen, thirty, and sixty-minute wait spots.
