What’s !important #15: Boundary-aware CSS, Time-based CSS, Full-bleed CSS, and More
dev_tools
CSS-Tricks is reporting on some significant web development progress. The view() function now enables boundary-aware CSS—techniques that adapt based on container edges. Time-based website designs are possible with the Temporal API and modern CSS color functions, creating effects like macOS's dynamic wallpapers. Full-bleed layouts—elements spanning the full viewport without overflow—can now be cleanly accomplished using container query units, even when nested inside other elements. Chrome one hundred fifty brings thirty-five new web platform features, with AccentColor and AccentColorText reaching baseline support, plus additions like corner rounding for polygons and animatable zoom properties. There's also a humorous tool called FixCSS that implements changes the CSS Working Group said it would make if it could start over—including renaming border-radius to corner-radius.
