A homesick mechanic stole a C-130 to fly home to his wife

Sergeant Paul Meyer — a 23-year-old Air Force mechanic and Vietnam veteran — was stationed at RAF Mildenhall in England when, on the night of May 22, 1969, he was arrested by Suffolk Police for being drunk and disorderly, according to Boing Boing. Driven by homesickness and a desire to see his wife, Meyer made an extraordinary decision: he stole a C-130 aircraft, the Air Force's military transport plane.
