Herbert feels 'all the emotions' after record-equalling round at The Open

sports

Australia's Lucas Herbert matched the record for the best single round at a men's major championship with an eight-under sixty-two at Royal Birkdale. Per BBC Sport, the thirty-year-old stood on the brink of golf history—nine under through seventeen holes—before a closing bogey on the eighteenth cost him the chance to record the first-ever sixty-one in a major. Herbert later spoke of the emotional whirlwind of coming so close to rewriting the record.
