Otternes Bygdetun in Aurland, Norway

world

According to Atlas Obscura, a historic farm complex in Aurland, Norway, has just received protected heritage status from the Norwegian National Heritage Board. Otternes Bygdetun is a collection of wooden buildings dating back to the seventeen hundreds, perched high above the Aurlandsfjord with stunning mountain views. Once home to over sixty people across four distinct farms, the site was last occupied in nineteen ninety-six. Today, volunteers lead tours and demonstrations of traditional crafts, and visitors can explore restored buildings filled with artifacts from the area's rural past. The site also operates a small shop selling locally-made goods.
