Pentagon awards $7.1 million to expand U.S. production of cover glass for satellites

The Pentagon has allocated seven point one million dollars in Defense Production Act funding to Martin Materials Solutions, a small business that manufactures radiation-resistant cover glass for satellites. SpaceNews reports the investment will expand domestic production of the specialized material, which shields spacecraft solar arrays and thermal-control systems from radiation exposure in orbit.
