Your AI Ham Radio Buddy

Per Hackaday, there's a new AI chatbot called HamGPT built specifically for ham radio. It's based on a large language model but connected to FCC databases and live propagation reports, and it asks for your callsign and location to give radio-focused answers. When asked which band would best reach Japan right now, HamGPT suggested thirty meters or twenty meters, accounting for current conditions and recommending digital modes like FT8 for the weak long-haul signals. When general ChatGPT received the same question, it gave a more detailed answer with sources and remembered prior context. HamGPT raises an intriguing question though: what if it could process contest logs for automatic scoring, or analyze ADIF files to identify which awards a station has qualified for?
