Tens of thousands of unpaid carers across the UK faced repayment demands in the past year despite reforms meant to prevent it, The Guardian reports. New figures show thirty-two thousand five hundred fifty-nine overpayment cases totaling thirty-three million pounds, with some carers ordered to repay more than twenty thousand pounds each. Hundreds more risked prosecution. Though measures were introduced more than a year ago to end the carer's allowance scandal, problems persist.
