The United Arab Emirates is building the world's largest battery storage scheme, according to The Guardian — five point two gigawatts of solar capacity paired with nineteen gigawatt-hours of battery storage across twelve thousand six hundred football fields. The system will power the equivalent of half a million homes when the sun isn't shining. Similar projects are underway from Nevada to Manchester, as storing renewable energy emerges as a central solution to energy challenges.
