politics
Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara has arrived in Miami after spending five years in a Cuban prison. Per France 24, the dissident artist was arrested in 2021 during anti-government demonstrations in Havana and convicted on charges of public disorder, contempt, and disrespect for national symbols. Otero Alcántara co-founded the San Isidro Movement, an artist collective that uses art and music to protest government policies. He accepted exile after the United States granted him humanitarian parole, a condition of his release from prison.
