The 1983 Northern Telecom Commodore Phone Limited Edition
tech
Back in the nineteen eighties, Commodore wanted to get Canadians online with their VICModem — but strict telecom regulations and technical hurdles created an unusual problem. Their solution? Team up with Northern Telecom to create a limited-edition combo: a rotary dial telephone branded with Commodore's name, bundled with the modem, sold only in Canada. According to Adafruit, this phone represents a forgotten chapter of computing history, when hardware makers had to get creative to navigate regional rules. Today, it's a prize for vintage tech collectors.
