US says another troop killed as Israel warns Tehran’s attacks coming close

The Guardian reports that the US military has announced the death of another American service member, killed in Iraq on Saturday during what it described as a controlled detonation of a downed Iranian drone. The announcement came as US forces launched further airstrikes on Iran on Sunday, in response to the killing of American troops. Iran, meanwhile, fired missiles toward Jordan, a move the Guardian says risks widening the conflict into neighboring Israel. The strikes and counterstrikes leave a fight that has already killed American personnel spilling across the borders of countries not directly party to it.
