Muse of Vistalegre Mural in Madrid, Spain

Madrid's Carabanchel neighborhood is now home to Spain's largest mural—a striking work called 'Musa de Vistalegre' covering the Palacio de Vistalegre Arena. Measuring eighteen meters tall and sixty-six meters wide, it was created by Madrid-based artist Hugo Lomas, known by the pseudonym Sfhir. Atlas Obscura reports the mural is part of a municipal initiative to transform Carabanchel into a vibrant hub for urban art and muralism. Lomas specializes in painting muses who play musical instruments using architectural elements—a technique that earned one of his earlier works, 'The Cellist' in Galicia, recognition as the best mural in the world by Street Art Cities in twenty twenty-three.
