Russia’s State Duma passes law barring Russians convicted in absentia from consular services and real estate sales

Russia's State Duma has passed a law targeting Russians abroad who have been convicted or charged in connection with "foreign agent" status, "undesirable organization" participation, "discrediting the military," or calls to alter Russia's territorial integrity. According to Meduza, affected individuals will face frozen bank accounts, banned property sales, revoked permits and licenses, denied consular and government services, and income redirected to cover court costs. The law takes effect when officially published.
