Russia’s aviation authority cuts Moscow flight altitude limit, bans transit flights through the zone. Travel times and fuel costs will rise.

Russia's federal aviation authority has cut the maximum flight altitude over Moscow's three major airports to four thousand nine hundred meters and banned all transit flights through the zone. The restrictions came at the Defense Ministry's request in response to increased Ukrainian drone attacks, per Meduza. The new rules will increase fuel consumption and add five to fifteen minutes to individual flight times, while transit flights face detours of twenty to thirty minutes or more. The restrictions are in effect through August, with sources expecting extensions.
