Axios reports that President Trump has issued a new escalatory threat against Iran, pledging to destroy an Iranian bridge or power plant—including targets in Tehran—for each ship attack in the Strait of Hormuz. The threat comes as more than thirty commercial vessels have been attacked over the past three months, including several after the U.S. and Iran signed a June agreement aimed at stopping the violence. The U.S. military has already struck bridges in southern Iran over the past eleven days, but targeting Tehran's infrastructure would represent a significant escalation that analysts warn could provoke a much wider Iranian response.
