The Electrical Box Theatre in Los Angeles, California
entertainment
In Los Angeles's Arts District, a gray utility box on the corner of Traction Avenue and Fourth Place is not what it appears. Per Atlas Obscura, it's actually the Electrical Box Theatre—created by artist S.C. Mero and possibly the world's smallest performance venue. The exterior looks like forgotten street infrastructure, but inside, velvet wallpaper and theatrical details transform it into a stage. At night, performers coordinate with Mero and deliver shows to unsuspecting passersby—no tickets, no seats, just discovery and art. By claiming this corner back for musicians, clowns, and performers, Mero's work celebrates the Arts District's creative legacy, even as real estate pressure slowly pushes longtime artists out.
