Venezuela’s Maduro in court for pre-trial hearing in US drug trafficking case

The Guardian reports that Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro appeared in court Wednesday for a pre-trial hearing in a US drug trafficking case. He and his wife, Cilia Flores, have been held at a Brooklyn jail since US forces seized them from their Caracas home in early January. Both have pleaded not guilty. In court, Maduro was expected to continue objecting to the military action that brought them to New York.
