France recorded 5,700 more deaths than usual during its historic June heat wave

France 24 reports that France recorded at least five thousand seven hundred more deaths than usual during last month's historic heat wave. The country's public health agency announced the figure on Wednesday, sharply raising its earlier estimate of the toll from record-shattering temperatures.
