Business rates to be cut by 20% for pubs, clubs and music venues in England

politics

England's pubs, clubs, and live music venues are getting relief from the government. The Guardian reports that Prime Minister Andy Burnham announced a twenty percent cut to business rates bills, effective next April. The one hundred million pound package will save venues like a typical pub roughly eleven hundred pounds a year. To fund it, the government will review business rate reliefs for shops and businesses seen as not contributing to their communities, including vape shops. The aim is to ease pressure on venues and support local high streets.
